Grade Explantations
Definitions of the grade expectation standards that are used at the West De Pere Middle School
A (90-100%)
- Displays outstanding effort, achievement, and is exceeding proficiency or IEP/IAP standards.
- Quality of work is excellent, creative products, accurate, well thought out, organized, and demonstrates a high level of skill, subject or strategy mastery.
- Completes and submits work on time.
- Developing and displays strong study habits/organization skills.
- Displays high interest, originality and initiative.
B (80-89%)
- Displays above average effort, achievement, and is exceeding proficiency or IEP/IAP standards.
- Quality of work is good, solid products, accurate, well thought out, organized, and demonstrates above average level of skill, subject or strategy mastery.
- Completes and submits work on time.
- Developing and displays good study habits/organization skills.
- Displays above average interest, originality and initiative.
C (70-79%)
- Displays satisfactory progress in effort and achievement and is meeting basic proficiency or IEP/IAP standards.
- Quality of work is satisfactory, some what accurate and organized, demonstrates average level of skill, subject or strategy mastery, assignments are meeting basic minimal levels. Assignments need to be more thorough.
- Routinely completes and submits work on time.
- Developing satisfactory study habits/organization skills. Work in this area will increase the students achievement
- Displays average interest, originality and initiative.
D (60-69%)
- Poor achievement/effort, can do better work with more effort, barely justifies meeting minimal proficiency or IEP/IAP standards.
- Quality of work is basic/minimal, inaccurate and unorganized, demonstrates below average level of skill, subject or strategy mastery, assignments are not meeting basic minimal levels. Assignments need to be more thorough
- Routinely does not completes and submits work on time.
- Needs to improve study skills.
F (≤59%)
- Poor achievement/effort, can do better work with more effort, does not justifies meeting minimal proficiency IEP/IAP standards.
- Level/quality of work does not justify minimal proficiency standards.
- Routinely does not completes and submits work on time.
- Needs to improve study skills.
- Lacks motivation, interest, displays little or no effort to achieve.
Incomplete
- Poor or inconsistent achievement/effort, can do better work with more effort.
- Level/quality of work does justify basic proficiency or IEP/IAP standards, inconsistent effort and quality of assignments need to be improved.
- Routinely does not complete or inconsistently submits work on time. Has work/assignments, tests, projects, etc. missing.
- Needs to improve study skills.
- Improvement in motivation, interest, effort, quality of work consistency, organizational and study skills is needed to achieve at a higher proficiency level.
- Student has two weeks (or other agreed time between student and teacher/Grade Level Team) to complete work; otherwise the grade will be changed to the appropriate grade.
Medical
Passing grade as state law requests. A statement (stating the reason and time frame of the student's medical situation) from a qualified/certified medical personnel must be provided to the Middle School during the student's medical situation.
Not Applicable
Used for new students that are not in class long enough to determine grade (usually 1-2 weeks).
