West De Pere High School offers:
- Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel structure that meets state requirements.
- June asynchronous online classroom sessions.
- The West De Pere Driver Education portion is free. ($50 for 2024)

There will be a fee for those who wish to take Behind-The-Wheel with WDPHS.
Behind The Wheel Participation:
- Registration will open through the West De Pere School District webpage. Registration link will be available February 1st at 3:00 pm.
- Payment must be made through the WDP School District payment system to participate in the BTW program.
- Students must be 15 years old by July 1st of the summer you plan to participate in the BTW program. We recommend you do both the classroom and BTW program during the same summer.
- Students who turn 15 years old sometime between July 2, 2024 and June 30, 2025 may sign up and take the classroom education only portion.
- Options for students who participate in classroom education only:
- Wait until the following summer to do the BTW portion at WDPHS.
- Go to a private driving school for BTW lessons at their cost.
Wisconsin State Law Requirements & Guidelines:
- 30 hours of classroom instruction.
- 6 hours of Behind-The-Wheel observation.
- Students under the age of 18 MUST:
- Be 15 years old to be eligible to obtain your Temporary Driver's License.
- Be enrolled in a Behind-The-Wheel program and scheduled to drive within 60 days to be eligible to obtain your temporary driver's license.
- The signed DMV 3001 Temporary License Application form will be provided to ONLY those students eligible and enrolled in the Behind-The-Wheel summer program at West De Pere. (Eligible students will receive their Temporary License Application DMV 3001 at the April parent meeting.
- As of January 1, 2024, drivers under the age of 18 will need to complete an in-person road test to obtain their Probationary license. Appointments for a road test can be scheduled 11 weeks in advance at wisconsindmv.gov/roadtest. Student drivers ages 16 and 17 who have completed their required driver education course, behind-the-wheel training, and 50 hours of supervised driving may still apply for the road test waiver through December 31, 2023.
Registration
Registration for the School District of West De Pere summer of 2024 program has closed at this time. Registration for the Summer of 2025 will start at 1:30 pm on February 1st, 2025.
Timeline:
- Registration closes when classroom and behind-the-wheel limits have been met.
- April: Parent meeting was held Wednesday, April 10, 2024. PowerPoint of Parent Meeting
- Mid-Late May: Students will be contacted at school to get their Behind-the-Wheel schedules.
- June: Online classes run June 10, 2024 through June 28, 2024.
- Online Classes will be asynchronous (non-scheduled meeting times). Students must meet and maintain the benchmarks of completing the necessary coursework on a weekly basis. Completing the coursework in a timely manner will show a student's classroom attendance and is mandatory to comply with state regulations.
- Behind-the-wheel lessons begin Thursday, June 6, 2024 for students who meet the requirements of obtaining their temps.
- August: Behind-the-wheel lessons will finish by August 16, 2024.
