Twenty-five hours of service learning experiences (SLEs) are required of each student, each year. SLEs focus on making a positive impact in the community. The goal is to create an entire school culture where students feel and understand the need to help other, take part in public efforts, and develop leadership skills. Some SLE opportunities will be provided during the school day, while individual students are responsible for completing the remainder of the credit on their own.
Examples of SLEs that have been provided during the school day in the past include:
- Volunteering at Feeding America
- Salvation Army Bell Ringing
- Christmas food and toy distribution at Shopko Hall
- Painting a mural at Syble Hopp
